I’ve been feeling this picture on a spiritual level. This pandemic has definitely taken its toll on my colleagues and myself. Whereas most industries suffered, business in the mental health community has been booming. At my agency alone, we have seen a 50% increase in our caseload from 400 clients to over 650.
That kind of workload will definitely put pressure on its workers. It hit me like a ton of bricks this past week. I pushed myself too hard and spent the better part of four days in bed trying to recuperate from God knows what. I definitely attribute part of it to the increased stress levels with clients.
However, I took a step back and rested. In fact, I’m still feeling it, and I’m not even clear on what it is. The part bothering me the most is the fatigue. It very well may just be burnout. When it goes beyond your mental and emotional well-being and starts hitting you physically, you know you have reached a breaking point. Without your corporeal form, there is no vessel to carry out the rest of your well-being. With that being said, I’m going to go rest now.
